*The seminar is one of the activities of project Enhancing national capacities to develop and implement energy efficiency standards for buildings in the UNECE region. *The training seminar aims to (i) improve knowledge of stakeholders on energy management and monitoring, reporting and verification in the buildings sector; (ii) provide information on institutional, organizational and legal aspects of energy management and monitoring, reporting and verification at the global and EU levels; (iii) introduce municipal energy management as a part of the national monitoring, reporting and verification system; (iv) provide energy management information system and examples of energy management system tools; (v) cover energy audits procedure of buildings and multicriteria analysis; as well as (vi) provide best practices of funding possibilities for energy efficiency measures in buildings.

Practical training on energy efficiency technologies in housing construction 

*On June 23, 2020, a practical training on energy efficiency technologies in construction of four-story apartment buildings in rural areas was held in Nukus, Karakalpakstan.
*The practical training was organized and carried out as a part of the project Market transformation for sustainable rural housing
*The training was attended by the representatives of construction and architectural companies and the Nukus city hokimiyat. At the training modern technologies for warming exterior walls, floors, and roofs of buildings by using energy-efficient construction materials were demonstrated.

*Online forum bringing together Uzbek and international stakeholders to discuss how Uzbekistan’s recovery from the COVID-19 crisis can be used to develop a green economy.
*The event intended to build on the important progress being made in Uzbekistan to develop strategies for mitigation and adaptation in the face of climate change. Further objectives were technical discussions on how to pursue a green recovery in Uzbekistan, the creation of platforms to discuss the use of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate change mitigation policies that support resilient societies and economies, and the development of concrete policy recommendations.
* Participants in the forum will explore how the response to the crisis can put Uzbekistan on a more environmentally friendly and low-carbon path towards further economic development.

Training on building codes for energy efficiency in buildings 

*The practical training was organized and carried out as a part of the project Market transformation for sustainable rural housing
*International best practices on assessment of the energy performance of buildings have been shared.
*During the event, more than 25 local specialists and architecture bureaus were trained on and raised their awareness about the modern approaches to the assessment of the energy performance of buildings, the heat protection properties of structures and the impact of various factors on the energy consumption of buildings.
*Moreover, workshop participants learned on how to assess energy consumption and energy efficiency of buildings. Participants have acquired skills in working with programs for calculating temperature fields of enclosing structures' nodes.
*The knowledge gained during the training will be used by specialists to design energy-efficient and low-carbon housing throughout Uzbekistan, which will improve the living conditions of the population of the country and help to put the housing sector on a sustainable development path.
